St. Petersburg is nominated for World's Leading Business Travel Destination

In 2019, St. Petersburg is once again nominated for «World's Leading Business Travel Destination 2019» by the World Travel Awards.

 

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 and are considered one of the most prestigious award in the sphere of tourism. The prize is awarded annually to the winners in different categories after thousands of tourists and industry experts vote for one of the candidates.

Saint Petersburg is also presented in the categories «World's Leading City Destination 2019», «World's Leading Cruise Destination 2019», and «World's Leading Cultural City Destination 2019».

The voting is open now and it will conclude on the Sunday, 20th October. Voting is available online at www.worldtravelawards.com/vote

As a reminder, St. Petersburg has been previously recognized as Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2018 according to WTA. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony in Portugal on the island of Madeira. In 2019 prize drawn among the European countries, St. Petersburg has recognized as a Europe's Leading City Destination 2019, and in 2018 – Europe's Leading Cruise Destination 2018 and Europe's Leading Heritage Destination 2018

Also we are proud to remind that Managing Director & Owner Alexander Rodionov, CMP, DMCP has passed  exams for The Certified Incentive Travel Professional  (CITP) and has become the FIRST  CITP  in Russia.

The Certified Incentive Travel Professional  (CITP) exam is SITE’s mid-level qualification aimed at incentive travel professionals with at least five years of full-time experience. It is part of a suite of certifications that includes the entry-level CIS certification and the director-level CITE designation, which is currently in redevelopment. Designed specifically for planners of incentive travel experiences in corporations and agencies, the CITP is also relevant to senior managers on the supplier side – DMOs, CVBs, DMCs, hotels, cruise companies, venues. Candidates are expected to have current, direct, hands-on involvement in the major processes associated with incentive travel sales, design, and management.

NARYSHKIN — TRUBETSKOY MANSION

Naryshkin-Trubetskoy Mansion is new and fully equipped venue located at old rich in history mansion. The mansion was purchased in 1875 by Duke Vasily Naryshkin, whose family included Nataliya Naryshkina, the second wife of Czar Alexis and the mother of Peter the Great. The mansion, in Tchaikovsky Street, had been put together by connecting two 18th century houses, one of which belonged to Pushkin’s African grandfather Abram Gannibal. After the Bolsheviks nationalised private property, part of the mansion was turned into a stolovaya, a canteen-like restaurant serving utilitarian meals, according to Russian news reports. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the building housed apartment, became private apartments, then was purchased by Intarsia to be turned into a conference and cultural center. Mansion became famous when Tsarist-Era Treasures were Found during restoration in 2014 Majestic interiors are perfect for special events, gala dinners, meetings, small theater performances, workshops. TAVRICHESKY PALACE

Tauride Palace located near Smolny Convent, Smolny Institute, 15 min drive from the Hermitage Museum and center of the city, Nevsky Avenue. Entry is from Schpalernaya Street. Since it is the official state organization – the special permission is needed to enter the building. The Taurida Palace was built in 1789 on the order of Catherine the Great for her favorite Prince Gregory Potemkin          (The conqueror of Taurida). Since then, it was reconstructed several times and in the period from 1906 to 1917 the State Duma was located there. Nowadays the official governmental organization is working in the building – the Interparlement Assembly of CIS. The Palace has the Congress Hall with the capacity of 800 people, shaped like amphitheater, and the main Column Hall designed in classical style. It can be suggested for the Gala dinner for up to 1200 people.

 

YUSUPOV PALACE

For centuries the Yusupovs had been tsars’ trustworthy and favorite associates. The Palace on Moika became the Yusupovs' family residence in 1820 and until Bolshevik Revolution remained the richest aristocratic house of Russia. The Yusupov Palace acquired its present appearance in the course of palace’s constructions from 1760 till 1850 done by the famous architects of the time. The staterooms in neoclassical style are remarkable for their rich and elegant decoration. The unique West European works of art as well as musical instruments of the 19th century adorn the palace interior. The germ of the palace is the unique Domestic Theatre built in the Rococo style as a miniature of the world-known Marinsky Theatre. Yusupovs' palace on Moika is notoriously famous for Rasputin's murder that took place in one of the cell rooms on 16-17 December 1916. The exhibition dedicated to Grigory Rasputin is set up in the original rooms where the tragedy took place. Visit can be organized upon request only. Yusupov palace has never become a museum. In 1919 it was nationalized and in 1925 became Teachers' Community house.
